A month at sea sharing motorsport stories
What happens when you take five decades of motorsport experience and bring it onboard a cruise ship heading into remote parts of the world? You get a unique kind of journey, one where stories of speed, strategy, and derring-do meets adventure, spectacular scenery and curious audiences.
Over the past month, I’ve had the pleasure of lecturing at sea, sharing insights and anecdotes from my time working in motorsport, endurance racing, and as a race car instructor. Whether it was explaining tyre dynamics during a championship season or recalling what it’s like to work with legends like Mario Andretti or Alain Prost, each lecture was met with interest, and thoughtful questions.
What struck me most wasn’t just the enthusiasm for motorsport, it was the appetite for understanding what makes high-performing individuals and teams excel under pressure.

In many ways, the cruise ship became an unexpected metaphor for the race circuit. The captain responded to changing conditions, and adapted the itinerary as needed, whilst relying on teamwork to deliver seamless experiences, just like in a race environment.
This month reminded me why I love sharing these stories with others. Motorsport is more than entertainment. People leave with a new appreciation of the industry, the people and the positive impact on broader society.
